'68 302 alternator/ignition wiring
I need some help. We are ready to start this thing but can't get any fire from the ignition/key but I can jump the solenoid and turn the engine over. I don't know where the wires go. I've figured out which wires are the headlights but other than that, I don't know. What wire goes to the coil? I'm running points for now. My biggest problem is the alternator and solenoid wiring. Can anyone help?

See if you have a red/lightblue stripe wire going to the keyswitch. Ford used this for many years for the start wire. This wire should leave the keyswitch and go to the neutral safety switch either on the clutch pedal or the side of the auto tranny. From the neutral safety switch it goes right up to the starter solenoid/relay. It stays the same red/lightblue color at the starter solenoid.
Your alternator wiring should look like this if you have a alt light in the dash. The colors may be different though.
If you have a factory ammeter in the dash, your wiring will look like this, but the wire colors may be different.
