2004 Black Explorer... white stripes
Hey Guys,
I just bought a fully loaded black Limited, '04. On both sides of the X there is a really fine tape that came factory. ( I hope this makes sense). It is two fine lines of white tapelike material that go from the front of the car to the back right about door handle height. Does anyone have any experience removing this tape without damagaing the paint? Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Here you go:
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td align="right" valign="top">1. </td> <td> Heat the stripe with a hair dryer. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" valign="top"> 2. </td> <td> Peel the stripe slowly, pulling it off at a 90-degree angle while heating the next section. Do not overheat the paint, or it will be more likely to chip. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" valign="top"> 3. </td> <td> Use a plastic putty knife if you don't have long fingernails, but be careful not to scratch the paint. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" valign="top"> 4. </td> <td> Put some multipurpose cleaner and lubricant, such as WD-40, on a scrubbing pad (the type with a net covering) and rub off the leftover adhesive. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" valign="top"> 5. </td> <td> If the stripes are old, they may not peel off easily, even with heat. Soak them with WD-40 for 15 minutes and then try scraping. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" valign="top"> 6. </td> <td> Wash the car thoroughly with mild soap. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" valign="top"> 7. </td> <td> Wax and enjoy!</td></tr></tbody></table>
Now if your going to add new pinstriping, add some red. Red and black look awesome together.
