It seems that my side tank doesnt want to work. Not the main one in the cab.
I finally got the old locking cap off [the PO never gave me the key]
And I filled it with a few gallons.
I flip the switch and the truck will run out of gas, flip back to the regular tank it runs fine.
I looked underneath and it looks like all the hoses are connected.
Is there a union that I can remove to clean out?
Or does the tank have to come out to do any cleaning?
Check the fuel line coming out of the rear tank for obstruction by unhooking it at of the bottom of the tank. Most likely the problem is in the tank in which case it will have to come off and could very hard to clean depending on the design of the tank. A rad shop should be able to clean it but it could be costly.
It could be a plugged side of the valve, something to check but most times the tank is plugged with rust.
Are you using the switch on the floor to the left of the seat? (Not the one on the dash) You probably are, since you said that you looked underneath, but for clarification, the dash switch is for the sender to the guage, the floor switch is for the tanks.
