Schik,
I have the same problem, but the dealer says nothing wrong. I have a Manual tranny and they say that is why... DO you have a manual?
Also about a month ago someone posted a Tech bulletin on an updated Turbo for the 06 for lack of power..
I have not talked to the dealer yet, but I recommend going to the appointment with this info printed out. That is what I am going to do, just been to busy..

My 2003 did the same thing. It was my ongoing complaint with the dealer. If I had a load on and stopped at a traffic light, especially if I was on any kind of grade. I had no power until the turbo spooled up and then off we went. They got most of my problem fixed when they replaced the EBP sensor. It was misinterpeting the outdoor atmospheric pressure and reducicng the output from my turbo. This same problem is addressed by the current recall that came out for 2003 6.0L about the end of February. In the recall they are disableling the sensor.

Keep us posted on the outcome. I especially am interested if they fix it. This has been my only complaint with the truck..
You can check with your dealer on a TSB about your turbo. One thing that comes to mind is how you use your truck and the welder, those two combinations are are not good with the electronics. I am sure you are aware of this though.

Even if you don't have a chip or tuner, it will still over boost if the vanes are sticking. What happens is the vanes will stick at a particular setting, and won't be aggressive enough when you take off and need all the boost it can make. The computer increases the pressure on the vane actuator, until it breaks free. It then goes into a very aggressive setting, but it tends to get stuck there also. The turbo then will over boost, until the actuator is able to move it back into the middle of the operating range (which tends to be freer because this is where they stay most of the time). That is why with sticking vanes, you notice it the most when you are going from extreme to extreme (idle, WOT, idle etc). When I had my turbo vanes sticking, this is what it would do, and thus clued me in that it was mechanical and not electrical (which my tech confirmed).<O</O
