No I haven't gotten a gauge yet so haven't gotten a chance but just figured I would post the MPG improvement.
still buying and paying for parts for the other truck so anything for this one right now is pretty limited till around the end of the month
stock fuel pressure is around 55 psi all the time, at idle, and under full load. if the pressure drops, while under load, you may have a clogged screen in your fuel tank, clogged filter in engine compartment, or a bad fuel pump
Ok I ran a tank through with no propane.
412 miles, 24.1 gallons to fill puts it at 17.09 miles per gallon. I get the feeling that straight #2 is back at the stations.
This tank was mostly on paved roads running around 65mph.

I like the sound of that. Is that mostly highway then?
Okay, so I got the gauge on today and went for a drive. Looks like it sits right at 65 psi, when running it tops at 65 but is very noisy. When you get on it, it tops at 65 still like before but drops around 40 when number 5 injector fires, and seems to drop to about 55 for 6,7,8. Might be wrong on the injectors but you can definately see the one drop into the lower 40s and the rest all drop it about 10lbs. I am thinking this is normal and due to fluid dynamics you just can't move it fast enough through the head to maintain a smooth pressure all around. and it does get back to 65 before the next injector fires on that bank. Is this what everyone else is seeing on their guage?
At anyrate, don't think I am going to go out and buy a new pump as this one seems to be working properly.
Mike, how have you figured this out and attributed this fluctuation to individual injectors? Maybe it's in here somewhere on this thread but I don't recall it.
Wouldn't say figured out, just believe what is going on. I know any fluid flow takes time, only reason for fluid to flow is a loss in pressure, i.e. an injecter refilling after it has fired will drop pressure. I think it drops more on injector 5 because it is right next to the port I am measuring. I remember another thread talking about the fluxuation or noise from the injectors and just figured that this was what they had seen.
so i would assume that with my 29 gallon tank and that i get 320 miles to that i might need a new pump? what do you think kwik? i change all of my filters and soon i will have a set of guages.
Cangim,
Do you have stock fuel system? This is where I think the regulated return or Kwik fuel systems has the biggest effect by providing a fuel pressure crossover line. It doubles the flow area for the fuel supply to the rails, since they can flow from both heads together to each injector. Mine seems much quieter since adding my Kwik fuel return with 0.008" orifice.
My mpg has also dcreased by about 2-3 mpg since i bought the truck. I used to get 18 on the highway, now i am lucky if i get 15.5. I have changed ever filter on my truck and I run b20 , no helping. Think this could be a sign of a bad pump? No mods except air intake and hpx crossover.
