I bought a set of Heddman Headers from Ebay recently for my 70 F-250 Camper Special (no sway bar) w/ 360. If I install these headers will the cab noise increase a lot or does that just depend on the mufflers? Currently my truck is fairly quiet in the cab (except for minor wind noise and the gaskets keep blowing out on the stock manifolds) and I kinda like it like that.
Dave,
I'm running headers on my 72 F100 (w/ 360). The noise increase
is barely noticeable (I also have annoying leaky window gaskets which
account for the majority of noise in my cab). Most of my exhaust noise
comes from my mufflers. The only noise associated with my headers is that slight, *tink* noise of headers (sounds like little metal horses running around) which I can hear at idle. It's not annoying or intrusive at all.
When i rodstored my truck I insulated under the carpet, above the head liner, inside the doors, behind the seat after I relocated the gas tank and it made a world of difference in the cab noise.

...only if you run them wide open. Twenty years ago, in high school, I disconnected my exhaust pipes in the morning. Well I got in my car after school (forgetting that my pipes were unhooked), started the engine and almost had a heart attack while hitting my head on the roof. I had a buddy in the car who screamed like a little girl......we both thought the thing was exploding. But it only took a second to realize what was really going on. He and I laughed for 10 minutes after that.
