Upper Intake Manifold Bolt Frozen
Am trying to remove upper intake manifold to replace gasket because of vacuum leaks.
The center bolt on passenger side is a torx head bolt, tryed to remove it with a #30 torx bit, it feels a little lose and I can not get a grip on it tight enough to turn the bolt. Next larger size torx bit will not fit.
Question is this bolt actually a size #30?
Any suggestion on removing it without the torx bit? More than happy to get new bolt if I can get this one out.
Am kind of lost right now and haven"t any ideal of to proceed, there is very little room to work under the upper manifole and feel the engine may bet a total loss this bolt can not be removed.
Thanks farmerboy

was sure I was using the correct torx bit because a 3/8 drive extension with a #40 torx would not slip thur casing slot. I will track down a #40 for a 1/4 inch drive. or find one of those snap on extend torx.
THANK YOU again!!!!!!!!!farmerboy
When I did my intake gaskets two years ago I didn't find such a long T40, so instead I bought the normal one and turned down the socket end to a narrower diameter so it fit between the intake runners. I tried not to take off too much as narrowing it weakens it but it worked out okay.

I bought a set of Torx bits from Sears that comes in a strip. It's not the type that is like a torx bit socket...it's a bit like a screwdriver bit that you put in a special 1/4" or 3/8" drive socket they give you that holds the bit firmly in place (instead of just magnets). I put that on a 6" 1/4" drive extension and 1/4" drive ratchet.
As an alternative you could just get a T-40 1/4" hex style bit, and use a 1/4" socket to hold the bit (maybe tape the bit to the socket so it doesn't fall out) and then use the long extension to make it work...
Thats the only insite I can give...
