Sorry new here and I have another question. My Air suspension on my 01 Expedition sometimes is loud and sometimes is quiet does that mean my compressor is going bad or do I need those new brackets that I have read about?
Do a search on my name and you will find lots of info that describe the new noise isolator kit that you can get at the dealer---I think it's a bout $60---you will find the rubber bushings on the OEM unit are totally shot causing the pump to be very noisy---after installing the retro kit, I would guess you will find the noise nonexistant or well within tolerable range
The new bracket kit will solve the noise problem. I just put one on my 97, and now I can't tell when it's running. Installation is pretty easy. If you don't find the part number in your search, let me know and i'll get it. I just need to pull the receipt. For the record, the pump flopping around from the worn mounts will accelerate its failure. Ford really ought to make the pump mount bushings available as replacement parts.
Thanks all I picked up the part at Ford and hubby will put it in this weekend and hopefully that will solve our problem. By the way the part cost $90 now
Well after we got the part from the dealer the 2nd time around , the 1st time the dealer sold me for $90 just the bracket no other parts were in the box, and yes I had it out with them after he got snippy with me when I asked for some sort of reimbersment for our trouble since we didnt know what to expect to be int the box when we got it and after my husband already took apart the truck to replace the bracket kit and found everything we needed was missing , the dealers parts department had the nerve to say to me WELL DON"T INSPECT THE PARTS BEFORE YOU YOU INSTALL TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING, I about smacked him in his face , I laughed and said Well DON'T you INSPECT THE PARTS WHEN YOU TAKE BACK A RETURN TO MAKE SURE ALL THE PARTS ARE THERE BEFORE YOU TAKE IT BACK , are you FORD doing paractice like WAL MART now taking returns and then putting the broken , missing parts etc. items back on the self for resale. After he said sorry I cant give you a discount I said let me speak to your supervisor he then said ok i will give you 10% off. Oh and they did reorder me a new one with ALL THE PARTS .So here we are now , our motor is still kinda loud not as loud but still loud , how much does Ford charge for the new compressor (and OH I wont be going back to that dealer to get it by the way ) I will go to another dealer. Thanks for letting me vent and Thanks for the info.
Check out www.americanairsuspension.com. I bought a remanufactured unit from them and was very satisfied. They use only genuine Ford units to rebuild. Not like some of the other suppliers (which I tried earlier and which failed quickly). Good Luck.
I bought my Brand New NOT recondition Air Compressor w/ bracket and all Genuine Ford Part on Ebay last week for $155 considering Ford wants $501.01, hubby put it in today and you cant even hear it now. Got lucky and won the bid.
I have a Check susp light that comes on when I fisrt start my 98 expedition, the compressor does go on for a few seconds and when I turn my truck off the suspention deflater normally. any ideas why the light is on. how do I replace the compressor filter?
My pump is making the usual noise, so I have turned the pump off, but now on the dash the Check Susp light is on, and stays on. I'm not worried about the light being on as I know why, but with it being off, is the truck not riding like it should. I was thinking that that is only if I have the truck loaded down with people for instance, or pulling something heavy. For example, I was going down a narrow four lane road towards downtown, when I hit a bump next to a drainage hole on the edge of the road. Well the truck jumped up and I almost crossed the line toward the truck beside me. Had I had the pump on and the air pags inflated, how would the truck have responded?
