Okay guys, can anyone help?
I have a 1977 F-250 Supercab 2 WD C6 automatic 400 CI/6.6 litre engine.
No numbers on the carb.
I want to rebuild it, how can I identify it?
I also have a carb sitting in my garage, it is marked on a tag as a Autolite DoTF R
C of 2
And another spot on the tag has Autoline 852A which was stamped over to 851A is it the same carb as my truck uses?
Either way I need a kit to rebuild the truck, but thought maybe could rebuild the one in the garage and put it on.
I am running a dual fuel system, propane and gas, and have an old carb someone gave me that has not choke plates as they took them off when running propane.
But I run both so need the plates I think.
Have I confused anyone yet?
The carb in the garage is off of a 70 truck. If the jets are the same size, it should work OK as long as all of the hook-ups are the same such as linkage and vacuum ports.

Thanks, I never can remember where I get these spare parts from, but they do accumulate over time.
So nice to know it may work out as a spare if need be.
Well I feel kind of stupid, I found a tag that had almost fallen off my carb, but was hidden by the propane equipment installed on top of it.
The numbers are:
D7TE
AYA
H 7 28
So now I know that I ordered the wrong kit for the rebuild.
Funny thing is the kit I have shows the acc, pump is for my year and the right kit I need to buy does not show the acc, pump used in my 77.
Anyway, now I know what I do need.
USE THE 70 carb. The DOTF carb is a super carb very hard to come by and have great flow properties. They have the big 1.23 barrels. skip the 77 carb its a emissions carb.

Well believe it or not, I have still not gotten around to rebuilding my carb.
But am planning to this summer.
So I take it that your advice is still to use the carb marked DOTF as a better carb?
I would find that better as then I can still use the truck and then when I do the carb it will be a quick swap and off to the races.
I sure appreciate all the input supplied by everybody here.
Since the original post I picked up a digital camera, so it makes it better for some of the posts as one can supply more detail with the cameras.
I guess I should ask, my truck carb I believe is a 2150 would this 1970 one not be a 2100 and will it really work in place of the original?

I believe that we are genetically hard wired to hoard and stash. Must have something to do with trying to kick start the mastodon, and jump start the T-Rex!
