So it sounds like i'm not that far off, what some people are getting. I've heard that there really isn't a for sure fuel mileage that we should be getting, it's all over the place, depending on how we drive and what we tow? And i know that my dad doesn't go do the calcs to get his fuel mileage he just looks at the meter. So i'll tell him to do the calculations next time for sure.
When you guys have done the ccv mod, do you have to switch the cover around, so the vent is pointing towards the rear of the truck? And if you did change the direction did you have to get a new gasket for the cover? i would like to keep the cover the stock way, just route the hose a little different.
I just routed my hose straight off the prebent hose on the cover over to my master cylinder and over the top of the front of it then to the frame and back. I didn't reverse the direction of the cover although I know some guys do but you can definatly do it without.
I think if i do the mod then i'll probably go that way, since i don't really feel like taking the cover off if i don't have too. Makes it a little easier. Did you route yours into the exhaust?
I will but haven't yet, I am going to switch to a 5" exhaust so when I do that then I will add the piece to plumb it into the exhaust (currently have 4") it's much easier to weld on out of the vehicle so since I know that I am switching no sense taking the time and trouble to do it now.
For right now it just goes down the outside of the frame and dumps back by the front spring hanger.
That sounds like the way that i will do it too, just route it towards the back of the truck somewhere. The truck still has stock exhaust on it. What exhaust are you running? I was thinking banks? but i've heard that they are over priced?
You're referring to the psst-pssst-pssst damaging stall, Kwik?
Yes, and I am going on what happened to me before I changed out the stock wheel for the WW. With my six speed and stock tuning I had to have the throttle at WOT and pulling a big enough hill to slow the whole rig down to 2300 rpm and then it would start to stall. Downshifting would eliminate the stalling. Putting in the WW cured the problem. I can now run at any RPM at any throttle setting at any weight using the Tow/Safe program and still no stalling. Add even the slightest bit more fuel than that, like switching on the 10k that I still have left over will make the EGT and boost jump way up and the WW starts to make a chirping noise. So I never do that.
