im in the process of puting my engine back together, got all the pistons in got the first 5 rod caps torqued to the first spec (53ftlb) rotated the engine one time after each cap was torqued, got the sixth one in and torqued and the engine wouldnt budge. took it back apart and the assembly lube was alomst gone, squished out the sides of the bearings. none of the other bearings did this though. relubed the bearings and journal torqued it down and the same thing. i thought somehow i got a undersized bearing mixed in somehow, nope not it. so i decided to try it in small increments 10ftlb at a time 10ftlb was fine 20ftlb was fine still rotated, 30 got a little harder, 40 wouldnt budge. any ideas?? by the way the rod cap was on the right way.
Push the slug out and torque the cap to the rod without the bearing installed. Make sure the hole is to spec with a bore guage and micrometer. Then, take it apart and install the bearings, again torquing to spec. Again use a bore mic to see if an under-sized bearing isn't mis-marked (it's happened). Be absolutely certain there's nothing between the shells and the rod or cap.
Spotlessly clean and dry is the only thing acceptable between the bearing shells and what they fit into.
One more thing, make certain that you have the anti-rotation tabs into their proper grooves. Not only do the caps go on only one way, so do the bearing shells.
Whose bearings are these?

bearings are on right, i have no idea whose bearings they are supposed to be clevite (according to diesel innovations) but they are not, some other companys markings on it
What SpringerPop said. Try a different bearing shell if nothing else works and see if maybe you have a con rod that was machined too tight at the big end.
