93 aerostar will operate fine except when the van is stopped
abruptly.(does not seem to matter the time
the van has been driven)then ,after stopping the engine dies and can not
be restarted. the engine when restarting will crank fine
but does not turn over.after the vehicle sits for a few hours the van will
start normally.
When you say "the engine when restarting will crank fine but does not turn over," what does it mean? Usually, when the engine is cranking, then it must be turning over. I'm not picking on the post, but just want some clarification. Do you mean the engine will crank and turn over fine, but will not start?
Did you try to pull the stored code from the computer? Most autopart stores will do it for free.
From what you described, all I can say is that you might be having an intermittent problem with the ignition system, probably the ignition module, but that's just a guess and you don't want to replace components haphazardly since it can be pretty expensive very quickly.

engine cranks but does not start after the engine dies. repeated start attempts
produce exact same results. van will start fine after a few hours of "rest" but usually
not earlier. only happens on abrupt stops ..
If the problem is your fuel filter, then it would happen when the car is under heavy load, not when you try to stop.
The fuel pump is a possibility, but why at a sudden stop, unless the stopping knocks a connector off. But then it won't start again after cooling down for a few hours.
If you pull the code, it might help pinpoint the problem instead of us guessing around.
