Cargo van version

Anyone know of the mechanical differences (if any) in a cargo van version of the Aerostar? I would think it's just a basic Aero with no interior behind the two front seats and side by side doors instead of a hatch.

They use the same wire harness (cheaper than having several different ones.)

You might not have cruise, tilt, cassette, (otherwise a really stripped down Aero) but besides that, no difference.

the roofskin is slightly differnt, i was going to change out the double doors on the one we have to a liftgate till i realised the ONLY thing keeping me from doing that conversion was the indents in the roof for the hinges, and no provisions for aditional seating.

What do you mean? Seatbelts, no, floor anchors, yes, but they are usually hidden under the rubber mat/metal plates.

Most cargo vans have no side windows beside the one in the sliding door. Because of this, you would not want to seat people back there for any long trip (Unless car sickness appeals to you).

Just looked at the 95 Aero Cargo I found a little closer tonight. Looks good, has 99k. No rust outside, paint is very nice (dark blue). Has cruise and air, no pw or pl. I may have to investigate further tommorrow. If this van turns out to be decent, the hard part will be convincing the wife to another vehicle, let alone another Aerostar.

This particular cargo version has rear glass, no side glass.
