Ford may not have done it, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't do it!!

 

One of the transmission/tcases I have for a spare laying around here came from a guy that put a cummins with the NV4500 transmission into a 79 ford F150, he bought the entire wrecked dodge and used axles and all, converted the front axle to use coils and bought a set of custom coil springs for the spring rate needed, and had to redo the firewall but got it all in there. plus he used the dash out of the dodge with some work but it looked really good when he was done. And ended up with a short box standard cab Ford 4x4 diesel now that was really cool.

I've been peeking in there every once in a while. I may end up doing the conversion if my Stroker ever gives up. I'd have to evaluate the cost of fixing whatever is broken vs doing the conversion.

 

IF i recall...i think they were doing the conversions inhouse for less than 10K!!! BUT its been a few years since i went to the site.......My beer can came with a Cummins!!! haha........Now if i can just find a 4BTA for the 86.........
