hi has anyone have or ever used the small portable gas cutting, welding torches.if so how long do the tanks last, are they worth the money thanks in advance
I don't know if they are worth the money or not, but I love mine. It is easy to put in the back of the truck, carry to the salvage yard, etc. How long do the tanks last, I hate to say this, but it depends on
how hard you use it, and for how long. I have a big stationary set in the shop for home use. Hope this helps, Elliott
It's commonly called a "plumber's torch" and they are great to have. The one thing I don't like is that the gas company charges more to fill the bottles and I see no justification for that. But when you run into a frozen bolt and need the "hotwrench, you'll be glad you have it.

We have one where I work. Also a big set of bottles. I would like to get a small "plumber's torch" set up for the house. A little too much money for what little I would use it. But it would be nice to have. Maybe I'll find a bargin somewhere at a yard sale or something.
I have a Sears torch I received as a gift. It uses oxygen and mapp gas. It has come in real handy a few times. It's ok for when heat is needed but the oxygen cylinders are a little expensive to use for welding or brazing.
At my work we have a small portable (lack of space) I used it friday to cut out a u-joint on my bus. didn't run out, and I'd say I used it for at least 15 minutes. I'm not that good at it yet. At home we have both. I will use the big one usally. Price didn't matter at the time cause my dad was running his own bussiness at the time and we used it a lot on our trucks.
