My 99 f150 2wd 5spd standard transmission pickup almost got stuck in sand today. Finally got it out and it smelt like the clutch got a little hot. When I got in it to leave the truck wouldn't move. Will only shift with the truck off! Truck BARELY will move if clutch is PRESSED to the floor? Fluid reservoir is full and no leaks found. Clutch pedal is stiff.
Truck is down by the river and rain is expected! Please Help.
Thanks
I wonder if the bell housing and clutch slave cylinder got filled with sand? I don't see any easy fixes for this short of tearing it apart. I'm guessing your going to need a new clutch, pressure plate and resurfaced flywheel.
Edit:
O.k. forget the sand thing, I'm thinking the fingers on your pressure plate or the slave cylinder itself is damaged. That's where I would look first.
i understand this is an old thread. but i just happen to have had the same problem last week. you did not mention , but my truck would jump when starting. it turned out being a bad slave cylinder. did not have any fluid lost what so ever.
being it was way too cold and wet out herel ast week to be laying on ground i had it repaired at auto shop. cost $995 i know it sounds high. but i am also glad i did not do this as it is the bolts all broke off.
only issue i have but seems to be getting better is the clutch was very sponge to start after work was done. after about 20 mile got extremely hard and has since seemed to balance out. i guess computer related.
hope this helps you. if not may atleast give you an idea if not solved yet.
