Hey all, did a search but did not find much for my particular situation...
2002 Explorer XLT 6cyl.
It's developed an audible "Hum" and accompanying vibration (very slight but I can feel it). I only notice this when taking a sweeping LEFT turn.
For example, while cruising down a winding road 30-50 mph, this happens anytime the road curves to the LEFT and goes away once back on the straightaway.
I've also, had the tires rotated and the hum is still there.
My 2002 xlt did the same exact thing at 58,000 miles. Noise going into left curves on back roads. I rotated tires too. I let it go till 59,000 and bought new tires because they were almost ready. That did not help. Took it to dealer and they found right front wheel bearing hub assy needed replaced.Problem fixed after $360.00 to dealer. Common prroblem on these. Lots of posts on wheel bearing hub replacement on here. Now at 92,000 my left one went out.Felt like going over rumble strip when backing up and slight vibration when pulling out. I fixed it myself. Got hub assy. from dealer for about $180.00. Problem solved.
Thanks! Do you know how much longer I can get away with driving it like this? I was planning to trade it in within the next 3 months or so. I'd hate to put any $ into it at this point.
