Has anyone seen an aftermarket supplier for a keypad mounted on the door that unlocks/locks your doors with a puched in number sequence. I've seen them on factory installed Fords but have to imagine that someone could have invented a keypad that sticks on to the outside of your vehicle that unlocks your doors after punching in the correct combination. Similar to keyless door entry keybobs on our keychains.
Ford sells one as an accessory. About $104 or something like that. We put one on our King Ranch. It is bigger than the factory inset one but not too ugly. It is as wide as the door handle assy and doesn't look too bad if you put just above the body line above the door handle and below the window. Programming instructions come with it to set the code you want and to program it to the truck's receiver like the key fobs. It also lights up at night.
Can these be set to unlock the door while the truck is running?
I think it depends on the year of the truck. I believe 99-01s cannot unlock with remote(s) while running but 02-up can?? My 99 doesn't, wife's 03 does unlock. The keypad is essentially just a key fob remote with a code that has to be entered first. If your truck won't let you unlock while running with the key fob then it shouldn't work with the keypad either. ...JMO
Lester is right - the keypad you add on is just a fancy keyfob. It will function the same as the keyfob. So if you have a pre '02, it will not work with the engine running. I added one to my 2000 a few months ago only to discover it didn't work for what I mainly wanted to use it for. It's okay though, because I still use it often - comes in handy more than you'd think.
Keyless Entry Keypad

Dealer Net Price: $110.27

Conveniently unlock your vehicle without your key or keyless entry remote. No wiring necessary - programmable, backlit keypad tunes to the same frequency as your transmitter. Long-life battery (lasts 100,000 cycles). Easy no-drill installation. For vehicles equipped with Factory Remote Keyless Entry.
I have been double checking and I cannot find any reference to it working with the car running. So I maybe wrong!

Thanks for your reply. Looks like what I need. Question. I have a third party doorlock/burglar system on my 2002 F250. Will this device still work as far as programming it for my truck alarm? The manufacturer is KARR.
The keypad is designed to work as a stock key fob. There are few alarms out there that work with the stock key fobs. You'd have to check with the alarm manufacturer.
