Well I took my 2002 explorer out in the mud for the fist time ever and it didnt do so great, I went to put the explorer in 4hi and accidentally switched it to 4lo so I went to turn it back to 4hi and it never went back, the light just stayed in 4lo. I'd take my 1978 ford 3/4 4x4 out any time of the week but not this fine piece of engineering. Anyone have any clue to whats going on
I drove around in 4lo,4hi,2wd,reverse, doughnuts and all trying to get this outta 4lo. The light is staying on in 4lo even when I put it in 4hi or 2wd.I just went drinving around for about 10mins doing 40mph at 3100 rpms (so much for going to work tomorrow) and the damn thing still wont come outta 4lo.
you are not stuck in 4low.
do this to get out of 4low.
1 make sure the 4 wheel drive switch is set to low.
2 put shifter in nutural not park.
3 apply brakes .
4 move 4 wheel drive switch to auto or 2 wheel position wait for 4 wheel low light to go out
5 release brake.
6 put shifter in drive
and that should do it

That's the first thing I tried when this all started
Well its been sitting since lastnight so I went out and started it and the light was off. Is it possible that the switch is bad, how is the 4wd activated.
