this sound right?
guy still cant get the computer to read on my 7.3. New symtoms to include to my last post. When shifted into reverse and backing it seems as if the brakes are applied lightly not free rollin. Another thing when in nuetral the vehicle kinda wants to roll forward as if almost engaged in drive. Retired ford engineer told me it was the direct drive clutches for sure no sensors or electric prob could cause it. He rebuids trannys and was sayin in the rebuild goin with a 6 clutch/ band? instead of the factory 3? and is $1500 a good price?

I was recently quoted $CDN 1,800 ($US1,500) for a total re-built of my E4OD including installation, new TC, and all gaskets; so the $1,500 sounds about right. Since my tranny works fine except the TC lock slips under load I am thinking about doing the TC swap in my covered driveway once the weather warms up a little more and the rains stop. A new TC with a LUK clutch is about $US280.
Of course if any sensors need replacing or the solendoid pack needs replacing then the cost are going to start going up. If you replace the solenoid pack, Tach Sender, VSS, and MLPS your are looking at about an extra $1,000 plus installation.
