oil pan seal replacement

I am going to change the oil pan seal this week. i have already purchased the stuff from the ford house for this job. My question is, is this as straight forward as it seems or is there something else i need to be aware of?

Your pulling the engine right?? It nearly impossible without pulling the motor.

the front crossmember does not give enough clearance to allow the removal of the pan.

helpful--wash all around the pan seal area--real good--then with alcohol or paint thinner---clean well--then put a small amount of atv all around the pan seal area--smooth with fingers if necessary---people that have tried this said it stopped the leaks---use only the ford gray pan seal trv-its totally diff than anything else you buy--

thanks i just might try that, i will still drive it over the pit and then when i can get to it real good i will decide which way to go. And i did buy the stuff from ford figuring it was not an over the counter sealant.

is your truck 2wd or 4wd? I had to have Ford change the pan on my 97 4wd about a month ago. Came to the tune of $1400, while it was out they changed the rear main. I like to do all my own mechanic work, but when ford figured 15 hrs, and I don't have concrete to work off of.....
