Help, oil pouring from hole behind the oil pan!!!

I have a major oil leak. Oil is pouring out of the vent/hole behind the oil pan. Any ideas?

Rear main seal?

Thanks for the help, I am dead in the water right now.

Check up top in the engine valley first. You might have a HPOP o-ring or turbo o-ring gone belly up.

Very rare to have a rear main go out on these engines, Do what Chris said and look in the valley of the engine to see if you see oil pooled in it. Look under the turbo, might be an o-ring on the pedestal leaking. Look in the front of the engine, might be a line off the HPOP leaking. Look good with a flashlight.

It drains out the back of the block under the turbo, down the back and leaks out of the inspection hole of the tranny. Sounds like your deal? I say this because that what myine did and my first assumption was a rear main seal. Especially, if your truck sits nose up in the driveway like mine does. How much is leaking? dime size, Valdez oil slick???

Here's a link to get you familiar with the HPOP o-rings.

HPOP O ring change

Now, there is another plug in the bottom of the HPOP that is harder to fix but is fixable. I'm looking for that link now.

On edit: you said pouring out - so sizable leak.

Then if it's up top - HPOP or the Turbo area - should be easy to spot the oil. You might want to clean off the oil sitting up there to pinpoint the source.

Thanks, I've bookmarked these a while ago just in case I needed them or someone else. Too bad he's in Texas, I would offer a hand.

I guess it depends on how fast you need them. Some of the sponsers have the o-rings or you can get them from the dealer. They need to be of a certain material.

Did you find the leak?

No the truck is still at the house, I am at work. Gona have to look at it when I get home. Just thought it would be faster to get them at the LPS.

Ok I can't see real well but it looks like the oil is coming out of the bottom of HPOP on the passenger side. Is there somthing down there that can leak?
