Which Rear Bilstein Shock ?

I've got a 1998 F-150 4x4 lariat with the towing package and off road package. It does mention something about a 20H payload package.

For the rear shock the Bilstein application chart shows the BE5-2490-H0 or the AK2284 for "HD models".

Anybody know which one I should get? How do I know if I have an HD model?

My gut feeling is that the AK is for the 250 or 350.

The trucks options are as follows:
X08
99L
44E
XB6
55R
535
20H
954
215
433
508A
904

Thanks,
Tim

Hi and welcome to the forum

The Bilstein catalog shows the BE5-2490-H0 for the "normal" F-150 and the AK2284 for the F-250 Light Duty. The F-250 LD looks like a regular F-150 except that it has 7 stud wheels and a few other heavy duty parts. If your truck has 5 stud wheels it looks like you need the 2490's.

Thanks for the response

Yep. I spoke with Bilstein. Turns out the only difference between the AK2284 and the BE5-2490-H0 is the lower bolt hole diameter.

The AK2284 has a hole diameter of 14 mm

while the BE5-2490-H0 has a hole diameter of 12 mm.

Threw a caliper on mine and they were 12 mm.

Thanks,
Tim
