Bilstein 5100?

Has anyone tried the Bilstein 5100 rear shocks? I cant seem to find the standard rear shocks ANYWHERE in stock. Would these be a good option?

I run them front and rear in mine. installed when I did my lift. they are a great shock, a bit firmer than stock, but improves handling and cornering.

Do what I did and get some lift shocks for your truck. My rear shocks actually belong on a 4wd truck with a 6-8 inch lift, but they still fit and ride so well. They were a PITA to put in, but it was definitely worth it!

You can now get them with a lifetime warranty from Autozone...they'll have to order them, but it's worth not having to pay for them again.

Bilsteins-YES!

When I bought my truck it had 150K on it. It shuddered and shook on anything but the smoothest of highways. After a particularly tiring trip from my home to Dallas and back, some 750+ miles, I ordered four new Bilsteins and had a friend who is s tech at a local Ford stealership install them for me ($60, money well spent). I could not believe the difference. It rides like it just rolled off the lot. It now has 185K on it and yes it has a few rattles here and there from glass but they are few and far between after the shocks. Best value for the dollar I've ever spent on a vehicle maintenance item.

I just put a new set of Michelin LTX M/S II's on her ($940 ouch!). The combination of the tires and shocks have cured me of wanting a new truck ANYTIME soon.

BTW I also bought a set of Michelins for my BMW 740il at the same time, so it was $1670 in one day for tires. I had no idea they'd gone up so much. I did at least get $140 in rebates from Michelin for the two sets I bought so that helped some.

I am also a fan of the 5100 Bilsteins. I put mine on with a V and B code spring swap with a ICON lift. I run double bilsteins in the front corners and singles in the rear. They were custom valved by Cary with CT Performance Inc. ctperformanceinc
I have not tried the Bilstein's as they come from the factory though. You may want to at least call Cary.

The price was about the same as Summit and the ride is excellent. Handles well both towing 10k or empty. Ride is smoother than the wife's H2 Hummer yet still handles well.
