I'm about ready to change my front pads, on 04 f350 cc. I purchased the pads from the dealer, about 2 months ago, and when I checked the old pads, they still had a lot of meat so I decided to wait. Now I'm getting a shimmy like one of the rotors is warped.
1st question where can I get good after market rotors?
2nd what brand rotors are the best for towing?
3rd question will the pads I purchased from the dealer work with after market rotors?
I do quite a bit of towing, 1/3 of my driving is towing a 24' car hauler.
When you checked the the pads and rotor for wear did you take the tire off? If you did and you put the tire back on, you might have torqued the lug nuts a little to tight. My freinds dodge 2500 had the same problem, the greenhorn at the dealership was using the wrong torque rod when reinstalling the wheels. 4th time was the charm for him.
Id get some rotors that are crossdrilled or sloted for a little better stoping power.
Performance Friction pads and rotors. True 2 piece floating rotor design which will not warp and stopping performance is greatly improved over stock. There is a reason pfc supplies many of the race teams in all racing venues because of stopping performance.
My rotors are trash with only 13000 miles on the Odometer. Pads are still like new. I'm going to try brembo rotors, because the cheapies they sell at pepboys don't seem to fair any better than the OEM.
I'm not getting powerslots becaus one of my customers ahd a set on his superduty and they cracked in less than 6 months.
Another one for ART rotors here. They aren't the cheapest, by any means, but I have noticed significant difference over the OEM brake parts that came stock. Give them a look-see.
Go up to the top of the page and check out Carolina Clutch. They've got some rotors that I would trust...and will get when mine fade. Check 'em out first.
