Ok I should just shut up now but I can't thats just wrong.why even have springs just weld the axle solid to the frame it would work just as well.

Take that exact same pic from the rear of the axle and you will see that that bracket allows the end of the trac bar to be fixed to the crossmember. You can barely see the other end as well from this angle. If my eyes are tricking me, and you actually did weld the bottom of that bracket to the axle housing, well........."Houston, we have a problem"

I just don't get why people use trac-bars on leaf spring suspensions unless of course they have banana springs. Seems very unnessesary to me.

Ivan, the reason you don't get it is you have a real suspension on cap'n crunch.
if you look closely to the front spring shackle on post #15, you will see that the newer trucks have what is called an "A" shackle, it goes inside the frame in the front of the spring, not a "H" shackle that goes outside the frame, and in the rear also like the capt'n has. with the newer trucks that have the "A" shackle, if you don't use the drop bracket and track bar, or as some call it a pan hard bar, you get really wicked front sway, and can actually break the front shackle.
if you do the "H" shackle conversion, you don't need the bar, but with stock front shackles, if you don't have it, you will never be able to keep it in 1 lane.

Good info Tom. I noticed that shackle but wasn't aware they were that weak. One more reason for a shackle reversal.

Do this:

Just don't cut the slots in the bumper....
Live and learn, I guess.
Cody

EDIT:
I had a track bar..... It really helped the road manners. But like Ivan said before (and I paraphrase) "unless you have banana springs". But then again, my suspension never had to work.
