Armrest

In my 2000 ex, the front seats are captains seats. Has anyone ever had the arm rest go down if you rest your arm on it? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Mine does the same thing. For now I have put a piece of PVC with caps on the ends and placed it between the two armrests.

I had the same problem with my '01. The threads were worn on the back of the seat. I put a helicoil in the seat back to repair the threads and it's like new again. You have to pull the cover off of the back end of the armrest, where it attaches to the seat to get to the bolt. It's not too difficult to do if you can drill and tap a hole, and you can get the helicoil kit from NAPA. I don't remember what size the bolt is, but you can take it with you when you get the kit.

I would verify that the threads are indeed stripped first. Maybe the bolt just backed out.

There is a large welded on metal stop that prevents the armrest from going down. The bolt that secures the armrest could have just backed out a bit.

Does the armrest wobbly to and fro? Do you ears hang low? Oh wait...that's a song...

I guess I overlooked this. Definately check to see if the bolt is just loose. If it won't tighten back up, then check the threads in the seat back.

If they did just back out then some thread locker should help prevent it in the future.
