if you want performance id say go with a aluminum set of trick flow heads. by time you search for the rare 351W 4V heads you can buy a set that will outperform them. or you could always find you a set of 351C heads to slap on it.
can you find out if the 74 crown vic had those same cast numbers on a 351w im almost sure the car has a 4 barrel but may be not its been a while since i seen it i didnt really pay attention to it cause i dosent have 4x4 i dont really like cars like i like my trucks
it could have a 4 barrel on it but it doesn't mean its the 4 barrel heads. All of the 4 barrel heads have the number 4 stamped on them. should be stamped right on the end of the head and can see it perfect with the motor in the car just looking at the engine.
yeah i like the aluminum heads i put a set of edelbrock performer heads on the motor last year and over heated them this year brought to a machine shop and was told that they are twisted bolth heads wich souns a little funny but the truck runs hot with the plow and i dont really want to spend the money on them to put on a plow truck although my mud truck has a set of trick flow twisted wedge heads wright now and i love them to death i was really just looking out of curiosty to see if i could get a power boost with cast heads i will probably just put stock heads on it and call it a day if i cant find the cast heads you said a 351c will fit the 351w is that a bolt wright in or does it needto have some mods done
no its not a bolt right up you will have to change the intake i know but im not sure what else. I do know you can put 351C heads on a 302 but you have to get a special intake. Not certain on what else would need changed.
my brother just pulld out a set of heads we saved of a 351c im in the garage trying to get ready for first mud race of the year and he lookd over my shoulder and saw your reply and then calld me an ******* cause im not helping im stuck on fixing my plow truck and winter is over got way tooo many projects going on at one time oh my bro wants to know if the year on the heads matter from a 351c or were they all basicly the same
honestly no idea. i have a 351C but i have never tried to match up the heads on anything else. I have a 1971 351C 4V 4 bolt main. I also have a 1969 351W but its 2V heads although i have a 4 barrel intake on it.
The blind, leading the blind here First off, you don't want a set of 351C 4 BARREL heads ( not 4 VALVE, there are no such animals) Although they will bolt onto a Windsor block, it's not a bolt on swap. You have to plug the coolant passage in the bottom of the head where it passes back to the block on a Cleveland, then open up a passage on the intake side, then you'll have to find and modify a Windsor deck intake to fit Cleveland heads on a 9.5 deck block. This isn't an easy swap and with the choice of aftermarket heads out there now, you'll spnd more on the swap than you'd spend for a set of good aftermarket ones.---------------------------------------------------The 351W heads to look for are the 69-76 heads, these had the larger 1.84/1.54 valves. The 69 castings had slightly smaller chambers than the others.
