Getting Enough Sleep?

"People who get only 6 to 7 hours a night have a lower death rate than those who get 8 hours of sleep."

Boy, am I in good shape!

Linky

"...the refrain that Americans are sleep deprived originates largely from people funded by the drug industry or with financial interests in sleep research clinics."

I sleep at least 8 hours every night. And wake up so dang tired, I just want to go back to bed. I'm so lazy I disgust myself.

I haven't slept a full 8 hours since I was in my 20's I bet. The older I get, the less I need.
I feel that if I sleep much past 7 am that I have wasted part of the day but I know better.
I get by with 5 to 6 hours sleep everynight.

I have noticed that to ddrumman2004. I have to get up at 0430 every morning, and 5-6 hours is plenty since I've gotten older. My wife can sleep 12-16 hours though. This has often been a source of contention. I am jealous.

With my job I normally get a combined sleep of 6 to 7 hours broken up throughout the day. Now that I have a 2 week old daughter, I am lucky to even get sleep, coffee is my best friend.

I have to get up at 3:30am Monday through Friday, and then drive 100 plus miles to work. But on weekends, I get to sleep in till 5. If I don't get 8 hours of sleep, I'm dead at work and no amount of caffeine will get me started.

I sleep about as well as you can in a dormitory. I put on some country music to drown out the idiots next door and usually rack up 8 or 9 hours per night.

I work nights and will usually sleep about 6 to 7 hours. Somedays though I do some catch up and sleep for 10,(ie today).

Actually, the way we are designed, is to sleep for a steady 4 to 5 hours of sleep, and take various naps during the day. Or so I've seen on discovery health.

Thats like our eating that we are supposed to do. We aren't supposed to eat BIG meals. We are supposed to eat various small meals through out the day, like 4 to 6 all day.

Never sleep more than about two hours or so at a time.

If everything is secure, I go to sleep again.

I usually get 7 - 8 hours every night. Sometimes only 4. Can't say I'm not tired after 4 hours, but I'm usually okay after 6.

Pulled a few all-nighters when I was younger. Not fun.
