Exhaust question

Ok this is probably a stupid question but I ordered the exhaust with a tip. Well they forgot to ship the tip but it is on its way. What I am wondering is If I go ahead and put the exhaust on now cut it to length and all, is will it be to short when the tip comes or how willl that work. Im guessing it is not a porblem but I didnt spend all that money to cut a pipe and be screwed.

I would think that you could install it and cut it later. Normally that's how you would do it anyway when you are fitting it on the truck. I don't have a tip so I'm not exactly sure how much you remove. What size is it?

Same problem here. Got the exhaust but no tip in the box.Got it installed last night without the tip. Install it like you are not putting the tip on. When the tip gets here There is plenty of room to cut and fit if needed. I will say the system is VERY noisy but I only drove it 3 miles home from work. Does not sound anything like a gas engine exhaust but boy could I hear the turbo! Gonna go out this morning and see how it really sounds.

When I installed my MBRP exhaust system, I did not cut the tailpipe. The tip was double-walled and the I.D. fit closely over the tailpipe. The tip is basically for looks and doesn't serve any function as an "echo tip". I simply adjusted the tip to stick out from the bed the amount I wanted. Depending on how your tip is made, you may want to wait, so you can install the tailpipe, without clamping, to remove it for easier cutting.

I'm 2 weeks into a 5" exhaust (love it , sounds awesome) , got the power chip also. I did not get the tip , I wasn't sure how it would look , figured I could put one on later if I liked. Having trouble finding 5" intake , stainless, that weld on , all I have seen are clamp on. Question , I have not seen the performance that I thought I would. My gas mileage is still in the 16-17mpg range. Last year this time it was in the 19-20mpg. Was hoping with the open air intake , chip and exhaust it would jump back up. I have a 2002 F-350 w/7.3.

A 5" intake? That's more than you'd ever need. Wouldn't 4" be enough?

I think the fuel mileage is seasonal like with gasoline. My mileage is worse this year than last.

Don't sweat it, mine came with the tip and I've not yet installed it. Can do it any time afterwards as long as you leave the clearance between the tailpipe and body.

My MBRP tip just fit nicely over my tailpipe and i didn't have to worry about

any clearances.probably the same with your setup.
