I have a 77 f-250 and hears whats going on.. whenever I turn on the head lights the left turn signal arrow in the dash stays on all the time and the turn signal light on front of truck is out. but when I go to use the turn signal the outside light blinks. Can anyone help me on this.
Try this. On the turn light that “glows” inside and is weak outside, install one end of a jumper wire from a good ground and the other end under the small ground tab. The small ground tab is outside of the light socket under the foam gasket. Carefully bow out the flat spot of the tab and stick the jumper underneath. I chased this problem for years and finally found it.
After you check your grounds, try replacing the socket on the turn signal on front of your truck. I had the exact problem you describe and found out (on this website) that the sockets actually can go bad. I replaced it and all is well. Good luck!
Dak
I should have mentioned that the jumper wire method (above) supplies the ground by going around a bad connection inside the socket. All of my sockets have the same problem but at $15 ea I found a better place for the $60.
Carig & I like to save money therefore we both suggest trouble-shooting before wallet emptying (replacing parts).
What I don't understand is so many people have spent $ hundreds for something that may have been a broken wire.
Then they say;" It was running badly before I replaced parts".
