time for a tune up

i just turned 45,000 miles on 2002 5.4 and i want to do a tune up.

my questions:
what type of plugs should i go with, same as stock?
should i change the fuel filter?
change the coolant?

anything else i should do since i hit 45,000?

thanks for your help

Plugs... Depends. They are supposed to be good for 100K. I did all of mine at 60K just for grins and a irratating COP issue. Fuel filter, yes... They are cheap and very simple to replace. It sure would not hurt to have the coolant flushed and filled with new coolant either. Obviously, you'll want to check the air filter as well and perhaps check the tranny fluid and or replace.

Exclamation time for tune-up

Motorcraft plugs are probably best, but Autolite makes a good platinum plug. Just be careful when torquing the plugs. I just had a plug get blown out the head after I changed the plug 40K miles ago. The original plugs should be good for 100K.
