I have an 04 f350 crew cab, I need to keep all the available space that I have, so installing a subwoofer is almost impossible. Also I have power rear window, that leaves me no room behind the rear seat.
My question, has anybody ever heard, or have this unit in their trucks? http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1434
How does sound, is it worth the bucks and effort to install it?
That is the exact box that I modeled mine after. In all essence, mine looks just like the picture with the exception I have two RF 8s in the box rather than one ten. Have a couple of pics in my gallery.

That's very nice, I like everything you've done. I think I'll go the same route with the sub.
Also like the extra battery, and the distribution box, you gave me a great idea.
Thanks
I have the stealthbox you linked to in my truck now. Mine originally came with a 10w0 series sub, but after burning up voice coils in 2 of them I have changed it to an Image Dynamics IDQ10 D2 v.2 sub. The original JL sub sounded fine, but I think the ID sub blows it away.
The box itself is very nice, you cant tell it is there at all by looking into the truck. I will warn you that unless they have changed it recently it is not very comfortable to sit on. It is fine for short trips around town, but I wouldn't expect anyone to sit on it for a long trip unless they sit on a pillow or some other cushion.
I would suggest picking one up, and if you do have any problems with the sub switch to something else like I did.
When I built my box, I put a 1.5" foam accross the top to still give it some cushion. From what I have been told it isn't that bad to sit on for long drives. I personally do not know as I am usually driving.
Just me but if you are going to spend that much on a JL Box, you shouldn't have problems blowing speakers. Both of my RF 8s are 8 ohm and handle 200W each. They are parralleled together. I have a Lanzar amp that pushes 200W rms to the both of them at 4ohms, so blowing those subs should never happen. Then again, I don't have it slam like I used to back in the day of my car stereo was everything. Now it just fills in the lower end nicely.
Thanks for the helpful replies, I think I'm going to get that unit, but I'm going to wait and see if I can find a better deal. Right now I have gotten two quotes for the stealth box, amp and instalation for $1500 and $1650, I feel that's way too much. These two differant installers insist on doing the install, because of setting up the right frequencies, I feel that i'm capable of that myself.
As far as the comfort of the seat itself, I've owned this truck since April of 04, and that seat has been used only once, for a very short ride, so that's not an issue.
For all that is involved the hardest part now would be what amp and were do you want to put it. I put a piece of 1/2 mdf behind the carpet on the back wall, then used some standoffs from the amp to the wood. Man 1500 for box amp and install, WOW, I think I have a total of 30 for material, then 250 approx for subs and amp that was purchase few years earlier. So actual realize cost of my project was 30 plus time to do it.

Yeah, WOW is right.. somehow my mind took $500.00 off the cost and I still thought it was too much... In Canadian dollars, I bought 2 Pioneer subs, 350 RMS each @ $80.00 each, built my own boxes ($10.00 for mdf, home depot cull - blemished wood), bought an Alpine amp for $258.00, Kicker 4 channel amp for $125.00 - 30 W RMS/ch, 4 Pioneer 6.5 speakers 160max/30RMS - $160.00, JVC HU - $140.00, Scosche wiring harness adapter ~$15.00, Scosche faceplate adapter ~ $15.00, Scosche power cables, ~ $35.00.
= $918.00; that's a whole system for about $800.00 USD... installed myself, of course.
Do you have a socket set and a few screw drivers? That's about all it takes.
