Whose really paying for those lemons?

My reg came due and I noticed a lemon law fee.....I think it was about $2

So why am "I" paying for those who have had their vehicles replaced as a lemon? Shouldn't it be up to the manufacturers to foot the bill?

I assume that it is not just a Connecticut thing?

It's a Conneticut thing.

The Libs just figured another way to get a dollar from the taxpayer....

All kidding aside, I do not believe there is any such "tax" in Va.

IMO: This fee is just just another way to Tax the residents and businesses of CT.

I doubt that it is of any benefit to anyone or anything except the CT state coffers.

I pay more in property taxes a year here in CT than my mortgage payment, then there are the taxes that are in allof our bills (phone/utilities/reg's) etc....

...sorrym it is approaching tax season and I am just venting.

Georgia has a $1-2 lemon law fee that is assesed on the sale of every new vehicle. It is supposedly to pay for the administration of the lemon law program. Anyway you look at it the consumer ultimately pays for any kind of government program one way or the other. If you forced the manufacturers to pay for it, then they'd pass it along in the price of the vehicle, if ordinary income or gas taxes were earmarked for it, you'd just see the government raise those taxes.
