Hey Guys`
I have finished my truck for the most part- exterior and engine are good. The interior is comming along right now. I have the interior painted the same as the exterior- the doors, dash, everything except the squarish panels on the doors, those are black. The new carpet is black as well as the stock bench. Well, its the stock black with white/greyish pattern. ANYWAY- I dont have a headliner in there right now, or a dashpad. I am currently in the process of buying both- but they will prob need to be dyed black. I was thinking about doing some custom work though. Buying some fabric and covering the pad, headliner, and door panels. Maybe adding a design using some hard foam? Just an idea but before I attempt and fail haha I was wondering if anyone else has tried? I know Chad Burns did his door panels and they look good. Any tips before I attempt? Thanks guys

Tristin,I recently installed an aftermarket headliner from JC Whitney. It is the ABS plastic model with the built in speakers and a place for a CB or CD player. I really like the headliner,I added heat shield sound deadner behind, and the speakers are good but I plan to get some great ones in the future. That's as far as I have got on the inside, good luck and have fun.
I painted my interior white; same as exterior. Black carpet, black bucket seats, NOS black dash pad. I trimmed the kick and door panels with black carpet and installed the black vinyl headliner kit from Whitney. The kit had the steel support rods and was for the application with the factory headliner mldg trim.Installed the aftermarket billet dash gauge insert with Autometer ultra-lite gauges (speedo, tach, oil water, amp, fuel)and removed the lower woodgrain switch plate and had it polished.Everyone that sees the truck wants to know who did the interior and they are speechless when I tell them me. You are not limited to what you can do with these interiors.
Tristin,
I stole a page from the Chad Burns interior renovation book too. I covered my headliner with cloth about two weeks ago, and it looks great! I bought some surplus fabric from a local fabric store (I bought 3 or 4 yards b/c I wanted to cover my headliner and door panels). It was a heavy, upholstery fabric w/ a backing. I pulled my headliner, sprayed it w/ 3M adhesive and laid the cloth. Then I trimmed the edges and reinstalled it. I think you could make a design first (perhaps by gluing cardboard to the headliner first), and then covering the whole think with cloth. I think that would look trick.
I opted for the cheap route for my dash; I unbolted my nasty old dash pad and tossed it. The metal underneath was painted the same color as my truck, was in very good shape, and it doesn't look odd. I pulled the two defroster vent deflectors from my dash pad, cleaned the foam-gunk from them, and bolted them over the defroster vents. Looks alright.

It wasn't clear from your emoticon if your were being sarcastic or not. Check out the gallery of IBen17
You can see that his dashpad has been removed in the last picture in his gallery. The only thing some people may not like is that the dash still has holes (and slots on the top) for the dashpad mounting studs. Didn't bother me.
I will try to post pictures of my headliner soon.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I am going to run up to the fabric store tommorow and see what I can find. I am thinking just something basically black, maybe with some sort of patern or design? I found a large FORD sticker- the basic Ford script with oval. I think I am going to trace this, then cut out a patern using something and then mount it on my headliner before covering it? I cant decide if a big FORD sign on my headliner would look good or weird. Maybe the door panels will get smaller FORDs in them too. If I do find some good fabric I am going to go buy the cheapest non rotten dash pad at the wrecking yard, and a non rotten headliner to match it, cover them and install them. I have the digital camera, so I will take some pictures. I know some of you have asked to see interior picts on my website, so if or when I do this, I will take a few. Thanks again

I recently made a headliner for my 72'. I pulled the old liner out, and patched any cracks/holes from the back side. Then I laid some foam (approx. 1" thick) across the liner, and using an exact-o knive I cut out flames. After gluing the foam to the liner, I then applied the black fabric I bought from Wal-Mart over the entire liner. I used multi-purpose adhesive that was condusive to foam. The embrosed flames look awesome above your head.

I stripped the pad off mine and filled slots and holes and painted the steel body color. More $$$ than a new pad if you're paying body shop, but I dig the look. If doing your self it's just time and material. Good Luck
