I am in the process of installing new weatherstripping and anti rattle strips to to my 66CC and i purchased the kit from LMC. my gripe is that the kit does not fit very well. the rear wrap around strip was almost 1/2 an inch short and a had to do a quite abit of remodeling on the door to get it to go on. there is a slot inside the door that the kit slides down it and i had to use my dremil drill to lower the slot so the pop in pegs would fit the holes in the door. not a big deal gotter done. my big gripe is that the anti rattle strips are over 1/2 in short on both the inside and the outside strip. has anyone had this problem???/ or did i just get a friday afternoon 4:45 P.M. kit. Dutch
At this point i'm still in the gripping stage. kinda irked me that i spent all that time dismantaling the door only to have to either set it back together with the old parts or leave sit in my garage for a coupla weeks while i resolve this. gonna call them after work today and see what happens.
You get what you pay for should not be the issue. If they say the parts fit, then they should. Several years ago I replaced all of the seals on the doors and windows of my '65 F250 with parts from Concourse Parts out of Calif. I don't know if they still exist because I haven't attempted to contact them and would never buy anything from them again. I had a similar problem as yours but to top it off one of the door glass to vent glass dividers was stainless and one was black. They sent me a new set of the stainless as I ordered but it took forever. Just a few months later, the windows were rattling again. I've been putting up with it because I dont trust that I will get any better from anyone else. Hope you can resolve your trouble. Steve
I recently did this procedure; I purchase from the same vendor; no problem with the products; however when I was bending the door glass run's, the chrome trim edges reset about the same amount Flyn66dtmn stated; however the clips aligned in place and the door run sat inside the channel guide (dove tail) along the door handle side.
My Anti-rattlers seem alittle long and I clip the tips to allow a better fit.
Glad to hear you was able to complete it. I would definately called them and emphasize there's a problem...
I have found that Dennis Carpenters materials fit every time and cost about 30 to 50 percent more.
I have used a Dales Manufacturing set on one truck and was pleased with the quality. I purchased a do it your self door kit and re used my division bars. I have the riviting tools to accomplish the peening of the rivits so i could save some serious bucks there. 90 dollars for the kit verses 200 for a fully assembled kit.
Lmc is like J.C. Witney a parts mail order house. I pays to shop around.
Beware of disclaimers "some assembely Required" LOL
Garbz, You do not need to beg to differ. "You get what you pay for" is the reality. I only said that it should not be an issue. Unfortunately it becomes the issue every time an inferior product is sold to the unsuspecting. I totally agree that quality generally costs more money. This is why I drive Fords, ha ha. Steve
Some people just never can take the advice of others.
I have a buddy who has a '63 and a '64, I have told him over and over and over again that this forum and slicks 60's say that Carpenter are the only ones that fit right.
I spoke to him last week and he is ordering a full set from LMC.
So. he will find out the hard way I guess. All my stuff is from Carpenter but I have not reassembled my doors yet.
I guess i have to agree with you guys on the quality of the materials from LMC. they are definately infurior. i had forgotten back two years ago i put new mats and a few other things in my daily driver and they all did not fit very well, but i let it slide cause i use the truck a lot and didn't care that much. but this bout just reafirmed that i will never order from these guys again. acually i'm glad this happened now as it woke me up cause i am going to start ordering parts for the 65 shortbox i'm restoring and there is no way i would alow that stuff in there. i lookeed at the price difference between Den. Carp. and LMC and there isn't that much difference espesially if you get better quality from DC.
John we wont mention another 64 big window owner that used some off brand rubber, against advice and ended up trimming it with a razor knife to get the doors to close
On a side note i just got the CAD drawings back on my little kit for flipping the front axle on 61 to 64 trucks, and had the Stainless Steel in bed fuel tank parts delivered, now I have to strike up the heilarc and get to work........
