2007 Configurations

I was looking at the marketing strategy and mix for 2007 and am surprised by several things...

75% of Lariats will be CC short beds???? I thought most everyone wanted a long bed. 38% (more than any other configuration) of XLTs will be CC short beds????

It is very difficult to find short boxes around here, compared to long beds.

Not to mention the whole V10 v V8 v PSD.

Anyone else surprised?

I hardly see any longbox crewcabs here in Northern California either. Mostly shortbeds. Supercabs and crewcabs.

Most Crew Cab's I see are short bed's as well. I prefer to have a long bed myself but most people probably want the shorter bed for parking and manuvering purposes and that makes sense to me.

another brain fart by ford. those sheets are a guide line for the dealers to have as floor plan stock. it has no meaning to what can be special ordered with out a talk with a sales man who understands and can READ the sales order book correctly.
thats like a guy who wants a v10 .chances of finding one by fords guide lines is nil. same with a 5.4 look at what they tell the dealers to stock in % of floor stock.
then look at what you can't get in gas motors for 07.

I think many people buying Superduties now place ease of parking/manuevering over functionality as a truck. Short beds are poor for hauling and for towing 5th wheels, when compared to long beds. However, they'll definitely fit in a garage or parking space better.

I'll stick with my long bed.

90% of the SD's at the dealer where I bought mine had short beds. I had to order my CC longbed lariat. Most of the ones I see on the road here are also short beds. I already have a short bed truck, so I went with the long bed.

Just go take a look in any parking lot and you will find SD SB grocery getters, I think that with the price a fuel that will change in the very near furure. I for one have never had any use for a SB truck.

Heck, I traded my '01 F150 supercrew pretty much only for the 8' box that comes with a SD. I don't really NEED a superduty. But I got one for an 8ft bed.

Huh, I'm the only person I know with a short box in my area. I see them, but not nearly as often as long beds.

Ace when I was looking for my DRW I found it out in Oregon when I was on vacation, and you are right most trucks where LB. I bought it from Crater Lake Ford in Medford.

The CC SB is dominant here in AZ. Texas is a completely different story. You pretty much have to order a LB if you want one. I've owned both and love th LB for carrying capacity but mostly for the 38 gallon fuel tank!

I do wish I had the 38 gallon fuel tank on my short bed Crew. I chose the short bed because I wanted a Crew Cab and wanted to tow. I felt that with the trailor behind me, there was just too much length to get into places I wanted to go. IMO, the Super Duty was designed for the recreationalist, more so than for a work truck. If towing a fifth wheel with a shortbox, I would get an easyglide hitch. No problem with that.
I think the Crewcab Shortbox has been the option mostly desired due to the demand of customers needing a camper hauler (probably also for ease in getting into parking spots). They're long enough with just the Crewcab.
