Anyone know a quick way from stock parts (or at least, forged aftermarket that are on the shelf) that can put a V10 down in the 8.0 or lower compression ratios?
Is the pin height different for the 4.6 vs. 5.4 vs. V10 pistons?
I have a long-term project in mind (as in, years away, I might have to get rid of the wife to accomplish it) ...
Who's got pix of the valves in the V10? Any chances of stuffing in larger ones - even just the exhaust?
What's the effect on a blown setup of retarding the stock cam(s)? Better or worse? How much intake opening BEFORE TDC?
I know, lots of this stuff is covered elsewhere and if I wanted to research it I could spend all night on Google. And probably will, eventually.
But maybe this thread will give the idea of a low-compression supercharged 2-valver to someone else who'll blow a few motors before I try it
Max torque at 3000RPM ... or the same from 1500 through 4000. That would be my goal. All grunt, no glory...
Or would it be better to start with 3-valve heads to begin with, and just plumb all 20 intake runners right to the bottom of the supercharger? Is the exhaust valve in the 3-valve head that much bigger than the one in the 2-valve? (I'm sure it is, how MUCH bigger?)
Art ,are you on those meds again? You know the ones that make you think your back in your 20's grease under your fingernails slicked back hair, rolled up tee shirt with cig pack stuck in it .Is your name really milner and you own a 32 5 windowford coupe.
If so stop over and have a pop with the gang!
Cause these v-10's are getting way to complicated to try and HOTROD!

Close to it ... "rebel without a clue" comes to mind
Complicated? What's complicated about the 2-valve? Cam alignment? You shoulda worked on a Triumph TR7 - they had a special bracket just for the cam gear w/threaded stud in the center of the gear, so that you didn't lose the chain tensioner when taking off the head - and the number of times they blew head gaskets, I was glad that was there. But even that motor was simplicity itself. And the reason I love OHC
But yes, it's possible to shave the pistons... However, I'd like some quench, so just shaving the tops of the pistons might work, but isn't desirable. I'd rather have a bigger dish in the piston.
art, i have a lot of pics i would love to put in my section/profile, but i cant get them on there from my kodak easyshare site. but i can send you a bunch of pics if you can put them somewhere on our site here or where all of us can see them? let me know. thanks, matt

I would be happy to ...
Mail them to me, one at a time, my provider will probably choke and kick them back if there's too much in one email.
You may get some help from Sean Hyland Motorsports (SHM). He's a big sponsor in FunFord Weekend Racing and has done LOTS of work with 4.6/5.4 stroked/turboed/blown applications. I would think if he had a dished piston for a 5.4 it could be used in the 6.8?
Just a thought. Go to www.funfordevents.com and look around on their homepage. There should be some contact info there somewhere.
