Ax,
56's Never came with a pass side arm rest. The 53-55's with the custom cab option did. The 56's with the custom cab only came with a drivers side. I'm 100% sure of this as I did extensive research prior to my 56 BW being painted.
Dont forget the full length body inside headliner for the CC panel.
Mine had 2 arm rests so I assumed they came that way. Again mine had no headliner in it at all, but it was fully insulated so who knows? It also didn't have the windshield trim installed (no groove in the rubber), but there was a brand new set inside still in the wrapping. Was the courtesy light part of the CC pkg? Pass seat? Mine never had a radio installed.
Hi again, the panel that I have now I assume was probably the lowest end model that was offered in 56. When I got my panel it had no seat in it but it appears that it only had a single seat no radio, armrests the spare tire most have been under the rear frame rails only one door lock on the passenger side, there is one head liner bow and a interior light. Back in 1969 I had a 56 that had a bench seat and the spare tire mounted on the rear inside passenger side, it had the 223cu in engine that's about all I can remember about it now other than the original color was a dark navy blue. I do still remember how said I was when my dad made me get rid of it and I wish that I had pictures of it. It would also be interesting to know what happened to it because shortly after the wreckers picked it up a friend of mine say it being trailered away from the wrecking yard, this took place in Toronto 1971,it would be nice to know if some one maybe that visits this site may even be enjoying it. Well I'm starting to reminisce, but if any one happened to pick up a black panel painted white had terrible patches pop rivited to it with perfect doors all around because they were from California you may be cruising in the panel that started my love for this wonderful vehicles.
Research. Research has brought me to bring this question of "BOWS" back up. I've read everything everyone has said about the headliners in the 53-56 panel trucks in these past postings. I too have a custom cab 1955 panel and purchased a drawing/pattern of the 4 bows from MID-FIFTY. They were apparently bowed flat stock metal strips that held the headliner to the ceiling. Does anyone have a picture of them in their panel? Or have more experience with them? Thanks alot
