So I'm looking for a double/single light bar and I've seen some out there that don't match the body line of the truck at all. There like 4 inches too tall, or they are way to narrow. Are there any companies that you guys know of that can actually make one of these that look good in a pickup? Or am I just stuck trying to get a genaric brand to look good with a saw and welder?
I don't know of anyone that makes them. However you said something about a welder and saw. Why not try and fab one up? Thats what I would do that way it would be exactly what I wanted and alot cheaper.
if you have a welder, shoot get some scrap and make one. this one is completly functional, and i made it with tabs on top for my cb whips and lights, and its bolted down to the crossmember of my bed.
mark, whats that made outa? think it would save your life in a rollover? whats it mounted to?
The roll bar is made by Grizzly. I made the light bar out of steel, I wanted to use aluminum but I couldn't get it to bend around that much. & no, it is not rated for a roll over, there was a disclaimer in with the instructions.
Drew, that bar you built really needs some gussets at the corners. It would not protect the cab in a rollover, it would just buckle over sideways. You can't weld 2 pieces together at a 90 like that without support of some kind, it just won't hold. Another option would be 1 or 2 45º braces to support it from side loads. I don't know what kind of a crossmemer you have under the bed but a functional roll bar really needs to be hard mounted to the frame. Otherwise, even with a good crossmember, you stand a good chance of shearing your bed to frame bolts when it goes over.
the bars not done, i just set it up there for the pic. i plan on welding some big plate gussets with "speed holes in them, between the top bar and the sides, and the back support. the bar is mounted to 2 4 inch pieces of sch 40, mounted with grade 8's at the bar, and some huge grade 8's at the frame.
I really wanted one for my pickup so I got one from Grizzly. I was so disapointed in it. It didnt fit right so I adapted it to fit. Then it looked like crap, like you said it didnt follow the body at all, pluss it was flimsy. So after I had worked with it for a few hrs I pulled it back off and gave it to a friend who was going to use the pipe for something else. If I can find a tubing bender that big I'd custom make my own.

that was my problem, but i figured that welding woul be just as good. i thought about getting some 90's and cutting them to the 100 or so degrees i needed, but i was tryiung to keep this bar free
