I wound up watching a chick flick tonight - supposed to be the new Johnny Cash movie but that one would not play so I got to watch the Sound of Music for the umteenth time.
There was not a single car chase or shoot them up in the whole movie!!
Anyway, anybody know of any good DVDs that feature 50s and older cars? Maybe even some old shots of the figure 8 racing with 32 Fords?
If you don't mind black and white, Thunder Road with Robert Michum features the (i think if I remember correctly) 55 Ford suped up for moonshining. A classic!
Hey, I like the Sound Of Music. Saw it at a theater when I was a kid. I never thought of it as a chick flick. More of a classic movie made when you could get by creating a movie with GREAT story and not rely so heavily on special effects.

I have thunder road - someplace. Or maybe I just rented it. A good movie. I also enjoyed Eliot Ness and the Untouchables, and Pear Harbor as those movies had several old cars in them. I guess the movie need not be about old fords, just show them somewhere in it.
How about any suggestions on great DVDs I can order that showcase the old Fords?
I have the Mad, Mad World - still think it is one of the funniest movies ever made. I just loved it when the wrecker backed into the last standing wall of the service station and knocked it flat!
I remember the Kenny Roger's movie - thanks for reminding me. I don't have a copy so I will get one the first chance I get. Good movie, but getting a bit too modern in year models for me.
Two Lane Blacktop is a good one, even if the featured car is a '55 Chevy instead of a Ford. A few other older cars in there as I recall, though I haven't seen it in years. Stars James Taylor, as he proves that just just because one can sing and play guitar doesn't mean one can act...I guess he realized it, 'cause I don't think he tried it again.
The Godfather films come to mind as well, chock full of old cars. Part 2 takes place mostly during the '50s so there's the era you're looking for. As a kid of 12 I got kick out of looking at all the cars used during filming close up (at least the ones used in the Tahoe scenes, since I lived there at the time.)
