I bought a remanufactured 390 a couple years ago, and its giving me problems.It seems the valves aren't seating on the 2 and 5 cylinder.I also have vacume leak on intake.I'm thinking of buying new heads and intake.I'm looking at Edel performer and edel performer rpm for both.
I have a 76 250 with 600 holley and headers.
I've wanted to change intakes for a while had a lot of trouble with this one.
Any help or advice would certainly be appreciated.
I was at the local service station Monday and all 3 mechanics were scratching their heads trying to figure this thing out.
I would probably go with the regular performer because our fe's arent real beg revers and also because yours is in a 3/4 ton truck so i would asume you want the torquey grunt in the bottom end.
did the truck always do this or is it a recent developement?

No it started missing on the #2 about a week ago I did a compression test on it and had nothing thought I had raelly big problems then I forced air into the cylinder the valve closed and then I had compression again when I tested it.At least I think thats whats going on.with the engine idling I can pull the 2and 5 plug wires without any rpm variation I think the plugs are firing but the exhaust valve is stuck open I also put new rocker springs in the 2 cylinder, it did not make a difference
Skip the Performer intake. Go with the RPM. You will not give up much low end torque, but you will buy yourself a lot of room to improve on the top end. The FE Edel heads will be wasted without the better flowing intake. You should also consider a cam change while you're in there to match your new high-flow components. Do you know what pistons you are currently running (you need to know your comp ratio to select a good cam). Did you get a rebuilt truck or car 390? The car 390s typically came with a higher comp ratio.
