Painting my engine
Hello everyone. I'm putting my new engine together and before I install the lower intake, timing chain cover, valve covers, upper intake--I'm wondering if anyone knows of any links that might have some ideas for color schemes and what goes into this job---stuff like: taping, two colors, colors of accessories etc.

Do you want a 'stock' look or are you going for a more personal or custom look? I would do most of the painting with the engine completely disassembled, masking off all of the surfaces you -don't- want painted (or don't want to have to sand overspray off of). The reason why I say paint it while it's apart is because a lot of things like gaskets and sensors, etc. don't really like to be painted and you'll end up with leaks and failed parts, etc. in the long run. You will also want to use high-temperature paint and take the time to clean and prep everything (sanding/scuffing, etc.). Hope this helps somewhat... I don't know of any links to DIY resources for this... I learned the 'hard way'... by trial and error!
