Ok, I know the "supposed" change over is on 10/16/2000. I have a 2001. The catch is, my engine tag states a July 24 2000 build which would be way before the November 2000 change over. Here is a picture of my doortag:
And my engine tag:
The orange sticker on the other side states it's got 250HP which means it is the 2001 model engine (Because they pumped the factory HP that year). I purchased he truck from the original owner (Old fella) and hell it's only got 27,000 miles on it so I know the engine/tranny are original. So what do you guys think about the engine having forged rods? Not that I really care as all I do is drive back to work and haul 9k every other weekend. Just wondering
BTW, I do appologize if this has been posted before. I ran through 11 pages of searching and quit.
Well, that is a heck of a question. I'd never thought about it that way. All I did was look on the door jam tag. Now I'm gonna go look at the engine just in case. My truck was built in Mexico, so maybe they shipped a little earlier engines.
aww man that SUCKS! im saving (haha) money in the future so i can do the forged rods and some other internal stuff, as well as paint or powdercoat the block and everything. take it down to the bare block (hopefully in Diesel Tech) and spec everything to make sure it's in spec. maybe head studs/fire rings, and that will allow a sturdy platform for the sled pulling truck this will be in the far future. this will be a grey colored "Psychostroker"
I too have a pre 10-16-00 date on the engine but later date on the truck. I will be checking this tommorow or the next day through the plug on the block just to be sure. Nobody seems to be able to say for sure. I will let you know but for now I'm still working to pay the man.
