I have an 04 250SD with the 5.4 and auto tranny. Sometimes the truck lunges forward when i first start it, just as soon as the engine starts up it goes forward a good 2-3 inches. Doesn't happen all the time but when it does you canexpect to grab onto the wheel. Is this normal?
Normal? I don't know. However, my 00 F250 with V10 and auto tranny did something similar. It still did it occasionally at 54k miles when I traded it in. It didn't seem to hurt anything.

It's been discussed on this site very many times over the past 4 years.
My '01 does it almost every time I start it. It not only torques the entire vehicle over to the right, it lunges forward when started.
It's the automatic. There's enough friction (and cold/thick oil) between the moving parts that on initial startup the output shaft tries to spin for a split second.
