I am finally getting around to finishing my heater replacement. have new Blower installed and the switch has power in and out but no heat still......
Must be the resistor I guess. I thought that was a real good place to start checking anyway.
Thanks for all the help!!

The heater resistor is on the heater box/plenum and attaches with two 5/16" self-tapping screws. It has three flat spade connectors, and the wires go from it to the heater blower switch. If the resistor and/or its wires are bad, the blower motor will work on HI only (resistor cuts down voltage to slow blower motor).
Right now the heater doesn't blow at all.....going out now and put in the new core and will double check all connections again.....maybe the ac control cable is off and it is on ac that will turn off the heat but not the blower though.....I dunno what is wrong.maybe I unplugged something somewhere and missed it on the reinstall?????

I suggest checking the power AND ground wires to the blower motor as well as the fuse. Sometimes it's the easiest little things that cause the biggest troubles.
OK here is the deal..... I have a good ground. I have power in the wire that comes hot when the heat is turned on. The switch is operating. I have power at the three wire connector that goes to the resistor. But, when I hook it all up nothing. If I just jump from the hot when heat is on and to ground the fan blows on high, but nothing when it is all hooked up...........I am pulling my hair out here!! ( what little is left!) What kind of readings should I lget on the resitor to see if it is good or bad????? It seems that this can be the only thing left to mess me up. unless I am hooking something up wrong.
I should have the three wire connector which is a no brainer and the hot that comes on when the heat is on........correct????
This resistor is a dealer item and I just don't have time now to scrounge in the yards. Besides, 73-79's w/air are rare in the yards here!
HELP!!
Thanks!!!

If you have power coming off the resistor, It's unlikely that that is your problem. More likely, the relay for the blower motor is bad. I dont know if the relay is in the same location on a 78 as a 74, but look under the bottom lip of the dash board on the passengers side. It will have a 3 prong conector going to it and will be held on by 1 screw. I've had these go bad in the past, and the whole blower system shuts down.

I had the same problem with my heater and traced all the things you did, but I eventually found that the heater/ac relay went bad..It is a small metal relay box affixed the the underside of the right side dash, with a self tapper screw. The box is just about straight down from the left side of the glove box...
