It just depends on what your buying and from who, when it comes to new steel. I just bought 2 24ft stick of 1.5sqr x 3/16 tubing for $150. High? Yes, but most yards around usually dont have scrap longer than 4ft. If they do, they try to get new price for rusty crap.
Now, if your buying angle iron, prices arent too bad. Also bought a 20ft stick of 2x2x0.25 angle for $27.50. Same goes for channel. For the most part, sheet steel and tubing are what's going thru the roof. Everything else is still somewhat reasonable.
