I'm partial to Chevron because they develop a lot of new technology and license it to everybody else. So I just figure if there is something better, they will have it first!
Even though Chevron and Texaco are now on the same team, the brands are still separate and distinct. I'm sure Texaco didn't change all their recipe's and supplier's overnight because of the merger. The brands still compete with each other and are expected to pull down their own share of the profit.
I've read here in the forum that Motorcraft oil is currently bottled by Conoco.
I would line them up this way:
1. Havoline
2. Chevron Supreme
3. Motorcraft
The Havoline and Chevron will have moly as part of the add pack. It is a great additive to have in an oil for when things really get hot. It will plate the engine and not allow the parts to scuff in the barrier lube state. MC does not have it in its formulation at this time.
Well I agree with Flashes listing order, but then I sorta have a dog in this fight, as I've used Havoline for more than 50 years now.
All are good lubes though & the Havoline & Chevron meet or exceed Fords spcifications as ford390gashog said, so either of them would be a fine choice too imo.
What about the Castrol GTX 5w20 dino, has ford 930 spec on it. Reason I ask is I'm committed to using this stuff since Walmart had it on sale at $11 for a 5l jug (pretty friggin cheap) and I bought 6 jugs. The havoline was $2.99 a quart and the MC and Chevron were closer to $4 a quart.
