Hello,
Lately I have been reading on these forums and others that Valvoline All Climate is a mediocre oil. I have a 1991 Mercury Tracer that I have always used 10-30 Valvoline in; it has 127,000 miles and uses no oil between 3,000 mile changes. My mom has a 1992 Honda Accord that has always had 5-30 Valvoline and it has around 50,000 miles on it. I use Chevron oils in my other vehicles, and wonder if I should change these two to Chevron Supreme. The apparent lack of quality in the Valvoline makes me a little nervous, especially in the Honda that gets 5-30. Does anyone have any advise on whether changing would be a good idea? Thanks in advance for the help!
The All Climate is Valvolines price leader oil and obviously they don't necessarily put their best efforts in a price sensitive oil. If you want to use the Chevron Supreme it is a great oil. If you can buy the Havoline at a cheaper price, I would say it has a little edge on the Chevron but I personally use both.
I like Chevron Supreme too, and feel it's price, quality and availability in NoCal, is unmatched for a dino oil. Valvoline All-Climate, however, I would not hesitate to use in my engines, if needed. I beleive I read where NAPA house brand oils, are made by Valvoline. NAPA sells a ton of that oil, including Napa oil that is used in customer's cars, when repaired at various NAPA Auto-Care Centers, nationwide. Also, I have been hearing a lot of good thoughts and opinions at various websites, concerning HAVOLINE oils! Perhaps their dino oil, is the best "bang for the buck" oil, available?!!?
