I've tried a ton of them over the last few years. I prefer Nortons Corprate Edition for Anti-Virus with AVG professional as a secondary. I do not like the all in ones Firewall Anti-virus and Anti-spam and E-mail checker. With a Firewall it has a constant activity monitor of all proccess's. Any mass produced onboard computer Anti-Virus can be compromised.

run from norton and hide from McAfee, they're evil and will only serve to slow your pc down and empty your wallet. Plenty of better and cheaper solutions out there.

Amen to that. Too many people think that having to spend all this time and money combating this stuff is "normal". It isn't...

Macs have their own set of issues, but constantly having to protect yourself from the very thing your trying to access is not one of them...

I purchased Norton Internet Securtiy Suite package and had trouble with their firewall. So I disabled theirs and went back to ZoneAlarm. Then the Norton update quit working and finally after 3 months, it told me my subscription had expired.
It costs 30 bucks to call them so I emailed them.
To make a long story short, I ditched Norton and went with AVG. It found stuff Norton had "overlooked". No more Symantec software for me.

Neither Norton or MacAfee

PC-cillin. Three PCs protected. Three different serial numbers. Three complete programs. ZERO viruses. $39.00

For a freebie. . . . AVG is tough to beat! The kid's PCs are running with this!

Team the 'cillin' up with Ad-Aware and Spy-bot. . . one tough combination.

I agree with the folks that think Norton and Mc Acrap are junk. I've had both and both are incredibily invasive. Just try to get rid of one or both. Mc crashed a brand new computer 8 times before I finally threw the disk in the trash. And I found their customer service doesn't exist or they don't know what customer service is. My current setup has Computer Associates and so far it has been flawless. It comes with my DSL and I also run Zonealarm free version. I have had AVG and was satisfied with it until they required a new version every 90 days. I was on phone modem at the time and it was too much, too slow. I would suggest a free version of the AVG and Zonealarm free version. Also, get a copy of the free version of Crap Cleaner. It gets rid of cookies, temp files, and gives the ol' hard drive a good cleaning. I run it every time I get off of the internet. You can't believe how much crap is loaded to your computer while you aren't looking.
